  • Family Tree Data: GEDCOM files and any family tree information you upload, including names, dates, places, and relationships of individuals in your genealogical records.
  • Payment Information: When you subscribe to a paid plan, payment processing is handled by Stripe, Inc. We do not store your full credit card number on our servers.
  • Usage Data: Information about how you interact with our service, including pages visited, features used, and timestamps.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide, maintain, and improve our services.
  • To process your uploaded GEDCOM files and generate family tree visualizations.
  • To generate AI-written stories about your family history using Anthropic's Claude AI. Your family tree data is sent to Anthropic's API for story generation. Anthropic does not use this data to train their models.
  • To process payments and manage subscriptions via Stripe.
  • To send you service-related communications.
  • To detect, prevent, and address technical issues.

3. AI-Generated Content

We use Anthropic's Claude AI to generate narrative stories based on your family tree data. When you request a story, relevant genealogical data from your tree is sent to Anthropic's API. The generated content is stored on our servers and associated with your account. Anthropic's data usage policies apply to the processing of this data through their API.

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information with:

  • Stripe: For payment processing.
  • Anthropic: Family tree data necessary for AI story generation.
  • Shared Links: If you create a shared link for your tree, the tree data accessible via that link is viewable by anyone with the link.
  • Legal Requirements: If required by law or to protect our rights.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account information and family tree data for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us. Upon account deletion, we will remove your data from our active systems within 30 days.

6. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.

7. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate data.
